I wanted to like Pitch Black, because I wanted to be scared by darkness and creepy aliens. The only problem was a script that is so bad it's amazing this movie was even made. The passengers of a crash-landed spacecraft slowly learn they are the unluckiest people in the entire universe. Not only have they crash-landed, but they are on a three-sun desert planet that is crawling with nasty tunnel-dwelling flesh-eating flying aliens. One of their fellow passengers is a psycho-mass-murdering-escape-artist who can see in the dark. It turns out seeing in the dark is a very useful thing because the planet is about to enter a regular 22-year eclipse that drops the planet into feeding-frenzy pitch-black darkness. Talk about bad luck, at least the aliens don't bleed acid. Go see American Beauty (again if necessary) if you want to go out to the movies, because Pitch Black isn't worth matinee prices.
